Kendo literally means "The Way Of The Sword", is the traditional fencing (resulting from Kenjutsu) of the ancient samurai.

It is considered the martial arts of excellence, it can be of great use mainly to improve oneself through the study of the sword.
The essence of Kendo is spiritual, on its basis there is the will to triumph over the adversities of life, but it is placed far deeper than this will. The primary interest is to improve one’s own character.
There is no age limit for Kendo, you practice it by using a bamboo sword (Shinai) replacing, for safety reasons, traditional Japanese sword (Katana).

The body is protected by an armour (Bogu) that protects all vulnerable parts, allowing a totally safe training.
Kendo has ancient origins and it still preserves many aspects of them such as the study of good manners, the philosophy of combat, the serene acceptance of a victory or a defeat, which nowadays are less kept in consideration by modern disciplines.
